Facilitation turned me into something I never thought I’d be: an ambivert

Let me tell you about that…

While meeting with the CEO of a software development company recently, we chatted about a designer's involvement in the sales process.

I shared my experiences working in parallel to sales as an SME to facilitate scoping sessions.

🚀 He mentioned, “designers make the best facilitators.” 🚀

Then we talked about the empathy designers have, and that ‘they’ tend to think about problems in a unique way.

In this context, we were referring to product designers.

So that led me to ponder my journey as a designer and a facilitator.

👉 Facilitation is a little like public speaking, which some studies say is the number one fear for people.
👉 Facilitation feels and looks like an extroverted activity.

Meanwhile, I am naturally an introvert, yet I love guiding people through collaboration. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It dawned on me that I have learned to be extroverted through facilitation.

So now I call myself an extroverted introvert, aka an ambivert.

Facilitation helped me step out of my comfort zone and allowed me to grow. And growing, in my humble opinion, is the key to life! ✌️
