Confidence Through Co-Creation: Lessons from Audience Alchemy

When it comes to collaboration tools like Miro, confidence grows through curiosity.

People often begin with questions, wondering which buttons to press or how to start, and that’s the perfect place to begin. Curiosity is where learning takes root.

Our founder Darcie Fitzpatrick, recently joined Audience Alchemy, a speaker series hosted by Bernie DeSantis III of Insignia Training Partners, to help people transform that curiosity into confidence through participation and play.

During the session, we explored how visual collaboration can turn a group of listeners into a community of co-creators. The focus was on helping people feel successful using Miro in real time.

Measuring Confidence in Real Time

To understand the group’s comfort level, the session began with a quick poll asking how confident participants felt using Miro on a scale of 1 to 5.

Before the session:

  • 50% rated themselves a 1 “Not very confident”

  • None rated themselves a 4 or 5

After the session:

  • 50% rated their confidence a 4 out of 5

  • No one remained at the lowest level

In less than an hour, confidence increased through hands-on exploration and shared discovery. Participants experienced what co-creation feels like, and they left inspired to continue learning on their own.

What Made the Difference

Here’s what helped build momentum and confidence:

1️⃣ Participation by design

Everyone was invited to build together. Each activity offered a clear, approachable step that encouraged contribution and ownership.

2️⃣ Visible progress

As the board filled with color and ideas, participants could see their collective progress. This visibility helped Miro feel familiar and welcoming.

3️⃣ Play as a pathway

Creative prompts turned learning into a shared experience. Play encouraged exploration, and exploration built confidence.

From Audiences to Co-Creators

Facilitation is more than guiding a session, it’s an intentional design of how people engage. When participation is thoughtfully designed, confidence naturally follows.

Turning audiences into co-creators means creating space for everyone to contribute, connect, and see their ideas come to life.

When we make together, we learn faster, listen deeper, and grow stronger as collaborators.

Try It Yourself

Bring this same spirit of co-creation to your next meeting or workshop with Darcie’s Postcards from Us Miro template.

It’s a light and joyful activity that helps teams express what they’re thinking, connect through creativity, and build confidence using visual collaboration tools like Miro.

Closing Reflection

Confidence grows where people feel invited to participate.

Facilitation creates that invitation.
