The single best thing you can do for your team is to run a retrospective.

Raise your hand if you have participated in a retrospective?
Okay, a of couple hands.

Let’s get into this.

Retrospectives are a collaborative activity used with high-performing teams to reflect on a period of time that has past. The goal is to outline what is working and what could be changed, which naturally highlights potential risks and areas of improvement.

“We could have spent the whole day on just the retrospective.”

— COO, Sailboat Retro Participant

Who doesn’t want that for their team!?

So we go back to, the single best thing you can do for your team is run a retrospective. The cadence of said retro, is up to you.

Sometimes we run retros after a 1:1 collaboration session, sometimes with a leadership team once a year, sometimes with a product team every two weeks.

This is a practice of regular feedback cycles.
And feedback, can be magic.

Featured in these photos is the Sailboat retrospective. Great to use when thinking across a broad time period and helpful for strategic planning to consider risk mitigation and future opportunities.
